“I knew she would do an excellent job handling my very difficult case…and she did!”
A Tenacious Attorney Ready to Stand Boldly By Your Side
Erin Woodrum is our Senior Case Management Attorney based out of our Winston-Salem Family Law – Healy Location. She brings over 10 years of experience in both Family and Criminal Law to our firm. She has expertly handled a wide range of cases, including child custody, child support, equitable distribution, spousal support, divorce, and domestic violence. Erin has a special interest in third-party custody cases (grandparents and stepparents), adoptions, and termination of parental rights cases. Renowned for her exceptional and detailed trial preparation skills, Erin is a trusted advocate. If your Winston-Salem, NC Family Law case is headed to trial, you’ll want Erin on your Legal Team.
Originally from Ohio, Erin was a high achiever at a young age. She began college at age 16 and earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science from North Carolina State University. She proceeded straight to law school at Wake Forest University School of Law and was met on the first day by one of the Deans telling her she was, at that time, the youngest law student they had enrolled. However, this did not deter her from achieving academically. She was a national team moot court competitor and was selected by Legal Aid of North Carolina as a Martin Luther King, Jr. Intern for demonstrating talent and commitment to equal justice.
In law school, Erin was initially turned off by the focus on corporate law and transactional topics. She almost left Law School to go to Veterinary School after her first year. It wasn’t until she met Mark Rabil, Director of The Innocence and Justice Clinic at Wake Forest, that she discovered her place in the law. Through her exposure to criminal law and innocence work, Erin met people like her who wanted to fight in the trenches alongside clients who were real people, not corporations. Erin had found where she belonged, and she excelled.
Erin has worked both as a solo practitioner and with a reputable local firm prior to joining Dummit Fradin in 2024. As a young and determined solo practitioner, she learned to handle every aspect of a case from the ground up. Working for a firm gave her the space and time to polish and refine her skills and work beside talented mentors to expand her capabilities and knowledge base.
Over the years, and especially since the pandemic, Erin’s practice has become almost exclusively Family Law. Erin enjoys the depth of the attorney-client relationship with family law clients. She enjoys getting to know her clients: their hopes and plans for the future; their dreams that never came true; who they are; who their children are; what they are scared about and excited for. Erin appreciates the importance of taking on the burdens of their cases so her clients can get on with healing from the emotional impacts of separation and divorce. She enjoys taking on the fight for them, analyzing it for them, strategizing for them, and being their backbone during hard times. Erin does not rest until every argument, every contingency, is considered and prepared for.
Erin approaches every case with a passion and intensity that is entirely her own. She once brought into court two huge jars of marbles and an 8-foot-long spreadsheet to demonstrate her point in her case. She views the practice of Law as a natural extension of her strong communication and debating skills, drawn from the fearlessness and resolve she developed as a child. Erin grew up riding hunter/jumper horses and “learning to fly” on their backs at a young age had a profound impact on the rest of her life. Though she no longer “flies,” Erin still carries the values she learned back then: bravery, grit, patience, and a sense of responsibility.
Through the years of her practice, Erin never gave up her love and desire to care for animals. Although she has not (yet) attended Veterinary School, she found an outlet for her passion through animal rescue work. She has her own hobby farm where her day begins and ends by caring for her most beloved animals—her goats. She also tends to her horse, donkeys, poultry, and a small herd of rescue dogs. If she’s not with her animals, you’ll find Erin on a lake, in a river, or on a mountain. For her, the outdoors is the perfect place to unwind and destress after contentious or emotional trials, meetings or settlement negotiations.
When you need a steadfast, tenacious, creative thinker ready to advocate for everything you deserve, ask your attorney to work with Erin Woodrum on your case. Ask for her to become part of your Legal Team so we can all start effectively preparing for your trial.

“I was referred to Erin through a mutual contact who highly recommended her for my custody/child support case. Prior, I had consulted with another firm but was not confident about using them. From the first visit with Erin, I knew she would do an excellent job handling my very difficult case…and she did! My case had many variables that were not common, yet, she handled every issue with such intelligence and expertise. She was so strong through the whole ordeal, and reassured me so much. Her paralegal, Julie, is a gem! Kind as they come, and so helpful! She won my case, and for that I am eternally grateful! I would not hesitate to use her again, and to recommend her firm to anyone needing solid representation!”

“Attorney Woodrum got my criminal charge dismissed. I was unfairly charged with possession of marijuana by an ALE agent. Attorney Woodrum had the case dismissed. She was able to have my case disposed of very quickly so I did not have to miss a lot of days at work going back and forth to court. Highly recommend in family and criminal cases.”

Both of them took time to listen to me and answer all my questions and concern’s and were very thorough and on top of things throughout my case. They also kept me informed with every step of the process. I’m very happy with The work that they did. I couldn’t have asked for better attorneys!! Highly highly recommend!”
