Your Rights, Your Future, Your Advocate: Thomas Mahon – Dedicated to Your Defense
Thomas Mahon is a Criminal Defense Attorney practicing in our Greensboro, North Carolina office. He joined the Dummit Fradin Team after beginning his career with another prestigious Firm in the area and honing his skills in solo practice. Thomas has successfully argued in numerous District Court bench trials, Superior Court jury trials, and misdemeanor appeals. He is eager to enhance his leadership potential in the field of law and to expand his cross-disciplinary knowledge in a team-oriented environment. His attention to detail and unwavering commitment to his clients are unmatched. We are all excited about the positive impact he will have on our clients and communities as we work together.
Thomas earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina, graduating magna cum laude in the top 8% of his class. He was recognized on the President’s List and Dean’s List every semester and was a member of the National Honors Society. He then attended Elon University Law School, where he also received Dean’s List honors. While at Elon, he discovered his passion for litigation by participating on the Moot Court Board, and he was honored to be one of just six members of The Trial Advocacy Board.
Since becoming a member of the North Carolina Bar, Thomas has focused primarily on criminal law. This focus has allowed him to acquire a wealth of experience in creative negotiation techniques and defense strategies. Notably, he served as second chair on the first “Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity” defense case successfully argued in Guilford County in the last twenty years (State v. Fox), gaining exposure to a type of strategy that few in the area have encountered.
“I’m a zealous advocate who understands that being an attorney is more than just knowing the law – it’s knowing and understanding people. I’m more than a vessel to explain the law but an advocate that helps my clients navigate all the ins and outs of the legal process both in and out of the courtroom.”
Thomas decided to focus his practice on criminal law because he genuinely believes in helping people. He feels it is essential to hold law enforcement accountable and to ensure that each individual’s rights are protected. While not everyone can fulfill these needs, he can and is fully committed to doing so. Each time he wins a case and prevents someone from being wrongfully convicted, he contributes to the community. By assisting the individual, he thereby strengthens society as a whole and promotes a more equitable system of justice.
“Just because someone is charged with a crime, it doesn’t mean they’re a criminal or already guilty. Our country has operated under the presumption of innocence since its inception, and I firmly believe that is one of the most important pillars of justice.”
When Thomas isn’t in court, meeting with clients, or preparing for the impactful battles that criminal defense can present, he is secretly a talented musician. He plays several instruments, including guitar, bass, drums, and piano. He also enjoys running, cycling, and maintaining an active lifestyle to keep his body as nimble as his mind.
If you or a loved one are facing criminal charges, don’t navigate this complex journey alone. Contact Thomas Mahon today to ensure that your rights are fiercely protected and that you receive the dedicated representation you deserve.
