The immigration legal team at Dummit Fradin is excited to announce they are traveling to Tijuana, Mexico later this month to volunteer their services with the non-profit Al Otro Lado.
Al Otro Lado is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in California. They offer direct legal services to indigent deportees, migrants, and refugees in Tijuana, Mexico. A lot of the work they do is immigration-related. But, they work with attorneys and legal professionals to offer people a range of legal services. This includes legal counsel in family law, criminal law, employment law, and labor law.
Devon Senges, an immigration attorney, and Stephanie Medel, a former paralegal, will be in Mexico from August 26 through August 30. During their visit, they’ll be assisting with the Border Rights Clinic. This clinic organized by Al Otro Lado hosts know-your-rights training and legal orientation workshops in migrant shelters in Tijuana, Mexico.
Through these clinics, asylum seekers in Southern California receive direct legal representation. Volunteers and staff also document human rights violations committed against asylum seekers at the port-of-entry and inside immigration detention.
