Integrity, Honesty, and Professionalism
Preston Edwards is a criminal defense attorney serving Greensboro, High Point, and Asheboro. He has experience helping individuals facing various criminal charges such as Assault on a Female, Drug Possession (felony and misdemeanor), and DWI. His genuine desire to help others navigate the criminal justice system means that he will take your case to heart and help you every step of the way.
Preston is originally from Salem, New Jersey, but he grew up in Clemson, South Carolina. He graduated from Clemson University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He then went on to receive his law degree from Elon University School of Law.
Many people influenced Preston to become an attorney, but recent events in his life were the most poignant. He recalls witnessing the 2015 Black Lives Matter protests in Charlotte, NC. He also watched a young man die at the hands of gang violence. These experiences weighed on him heavily and made him desire to live a life of purpose. So he left his previous career behind and pursued a career in law. With a background in political science, Preston has a unique understanding of the inherent power dynamics between the criminal justice system and the people upon who it is enforced. So he strives to help those who run aground within the system to protect their individual rights as Americans.
“I see criminal defense attorneys in particular as the guardians of individual liberties, keeping the government honest with its enforcement of the laws.” – Attorney Preston Edwards.
Attorney Preston Edwards brings a wealth of strengths to our criminal defense team. Yet, the most prominent is his inherent belief that what he is doing is necessary, honorable, and vital to the continued liberties that we enjoy as Americans. Since joining the Dummit Fradin criminal team, Preston has had the privilege of being a voice to those facing the criminal justice system. One particular case that stands out to Preston involved a client who was up against nine counts of larceny. Preston was determined to fight tooth and nail for his client. So, when the District Attorney came back with their first offer during negotiations, he rejected it. Preston knew he could get a better outcome for his client. He did not give up until all nine larceny charges were dismissed. As a result, his client will essentially not have a single criminal conviction on her record.
As a criminal defense attorney, Preston is always looking out for his client’s best interests. However, on the other hand, the District Attorneys and Law enforcement officers are not and Preston cannot stress this enough.
“Often, I’ll have clients who decided to admit the commission of a crime to law enforcement because it was the ‘right thing to do’ and they felt that the officer was likely going to be lenient. This is very seldom the case, and often puts the client in a worse position because they just openly admitted to the police officer that they committed a crime.” – Attorney Preston Edwards

“Mr. Edwards is a consummate professional with deep expertise in defense litigation. I am extremely happy with the outcome of my case. Accused of false assault and disorderly conduct charges I needed a lawyer that would help me to reveal all of the facts and the truth. Mr. Edwards effectively cross-examined and asked the right questions to reach our desired outcome of an acquittal and dismissal of both charges. He is caring, compassionate and excellent to work with, I highly recommend him and his firm, Dummit Fradin.”
